August - Wait - Psalms 40: 1 – 4

Waiting sometime is not an easy task but while you’re waiting, God is working. Many times, Christians behave like little babies, when they are hungry, they want the food now! Though the mother has prepared food but because it’s so hot, the mother will never give the baby no matter the crying and tantrums the baby display. James 1: 4 explains it better “But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.” There can be many reasons why God wants you to wait. For example, God sets the goal and He determines the step that leads to it (Isaiah 46: 10). We need to understand that God can NEVER be too late. God always set His watch to accomplish His purpose for our life and that’s why Paul wrote in Romans 8:28 “... all things work together for Good for those that love God and are called according to His purpose”

What are we supposed to do while waiting? When David was waiting, he did not wait miserably (being grumpy and seeking sympathy from people) but rather he was patient and thankful even during this period. He knew the promise of God for His life and he held on to it with great anticipation each day. He did not know when God will bring His promise to pass but he knew one thing, when God says it, it will surely come to pass. Let us see Habakkuk 3: 17 – 18 (paraphrase) “though things are not as good as I want them to be, Yet (no matter how hard things are) I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation” Please read this carefully, your time of waiting is not a time to be sad but a time to be filled with divine joy. Let us pray that God will teach us to learn what Paul learned in Philippians 4: 11 “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content”. I pray that God will give us patience as He leads us into our turning point.

God bless you
