October - A Vigilant Life - Text: Matthew 26: 41

Lets start today with word definition;

LIFE: - Its a state of living or being alive; or being in existence, but however a mad man, a stupid man etc is qualified for the definition and that’s why Jesus threw more light to the issue of life in John 10: 10b ... I am come that they might have life, and that they have it more abundantly, i.e. any life without Jesus is no life John 1: 4-5

VIGILANT:-means watchfulness. Then it means a vigilant life is a Christ like life that is careful or watchful, Matthew 24: 43 “But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into.” Many life has become empty and they’ve lost out in God completely because they are not careful either with their life or spiritual life, I like the psalmist in psalm 102: 7 “I lie awake; I have become like a bird alone on a roof.” it means at times you may need to be alone, look at your spiritual life, ponder on your relationship with God, open your heart to the word of God. Ezekiel 11: 19-21, is a good promise from God and the stony heart there requires determination & effect to get rid off through the Holy Spirit so that a tender, receptive and responsive heart of flesh can be planted, do you know that a stony heart is not open to counsel and advice?

Just because its closed, maybe I need to tell you this, there’s always a conflict between your physical & spiritual, between your body and your spirit. Brethren! It takes spiritual sensitivity to be vigilant and win because temptations etc comes and strikes where we are most vulnerable. Can you pause today, review your relationship with God, are you not living and operating in deceit? Extra marital affair will lead to your death, stealing will destroy you, back biting will disgrace you, anger, malice, gossiping will complicate your life. Believe it or not you can deceive man but not God; you can’t serve God and mammon together. Listen to Josh 24: 15 “But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” God bless you!
